Creativity is the ability to introduce order into the randomness of nature. - Eric Hoffer

In June 2023, the Azuki team unveiled their latest collection, Azuki Elementals, with a thrilling teaser that excited the entire community. They introduced an instant reveal feature to allow collectors to view their art immediately despite being priced at 2 ETH, an incredibly high amount in the NFT bear market, the mint sold out in minutes. This generated over $30 million in revenue for the Azuki team almost instantly.

Several hours have passed, and the value of Azuki's collection has declined significantly. Despite the demand and community support, there was an issue. Collectors were disappointed with the art after the reveal, causing a significant decrease in value.

In NFTs, art matters.

It was a shared understanding among the community that some individuals had an innate sense of, while others actively promoted it: art was just as crucial as the team behind one of the most exceptional web3 communities.

At NiftyKit, we strongly believe in the power of culture-building through NFTs. To promote web3 adoption, we recognize the crucial role of art as a communication medium.

Introducing Open Generative Collection

We have utilized the creative ideas from Hashlips to develop a fresh collection called Open Generative Collection. This collection can generate countless variations, making it ideal for open editions that seek to incorporate some generative playfulness.

Open Generation

Instead of relying solely on a generator to create art, Open Generative Collections generate art as minted. Artists upload their layers and allow the blockchain to determine the final result. This may seem intimidating, but consider the possibility of generating an infinite number of variations and rediscovering your artwork in a new, meaningful way using chance from the blockchain. It's a thrilling prospect.

Back to the Basics

As we reflect on the NFT Bull Run, we must acknowledge the unsung hero who played a major role in powering the art scene - Hashlips. Artists and coders alike quickly learned how to use this tool, ultimately leading to an entire industry's takeoff. Like Hashlips, we rely on the folder structure to separate the layers into groups. The layers are then treated as variation groups, and generative logic will match the trait accordingly.

Art Generator Desktop App

We wanted to ensure you feel comfortable, so we've developed a free Desktop App that generates variations quickly. It works offline, and you can run as many tests as you want without uploading to a platform each time. While it doesn't work directly with Open Generative Collections, you can upload a pre-determined set to your preferred platform (such as NiftyKit!) and create a new Drop. Sign up to be one of the first to download the free tool here.
